Junk Bonanza - Part 2

This is the first thing you seen at Sara's booth, she is co-owner of Seasons In Carver, which is located in Carver, Minnesota. She and three other shops have occasional sales once a month.

You never know what you will find in her booth, this is a combination of a mannequin, a feed sack, and a punching bag ring, which was the skirt for this creative "Bemis Dress Form". She used it to display her jewelry on......

I love the way she used this truck muffler cover to display the pool balls in.......

Tons, and tons of letters, the dish these were in was HUGE........

A couple of cool old frames and a porch pillar......

One of my favorites, I love old advertising, this could be used to display jewelry......

Here is some of the crew, my sister Judy, Sara of Seasons in Carver, myself and Laurie from the Whistle Stop who traveled all the way from Omaha to show her wares for the Bonanza.

Be sure and check out Sara's occasional sales, I heard she has a really cool display with an old truck door in her shop right now!

150 Locker Baskets In My Expedition!

Just had to slip this story in, yesterday I got a call from a lady telling me they had 150 locker baskets from the YMCA because they were remodeling, taking the old locker baskets out and putting in new ones, she wanted to know if I would be interested. My answer was OF COURSE! So I headed off to pick them up. Here is a few of them!

Check out the so cool brass tags with the black numbers, aren't they just the cutest locker baskets you could ever ask for?

I'm so excited! A little seed for next year's Bonanza! Wait till you see what else I got yesterday. I'll give you a clue, it's green, embossed, chrome and has a little punch of chartreuse color. It also was in the Expedition yesterday, I'm such a good packer!

Today I'm off to the Nebraska Junk Jaunt. It's a 300 hundred mile garage sale in west central Nebraska. Can't wait, will take photos and share with you when I get back. See ya then!

Yee-Haw, A Good Time Was Had By All, Bonanza 2009 - Part One - Daffadowndilly's Booth

Here we go! Photos from the Junk Bonanza 2009. I have finally been revived to a state of consciousness so I can now at least type and download photos for you to look at. Junk Bonanza was spectacular! We met so many great people, to the return customers I just want to say THANK YOU for coming to see us again this year, and to the new customers, hope to see you again, can't wait to see you all in 2010! So with that said here we go......

I love shovels, they are just the sweetest when you group them together....
The corner of the booth as you approach coming up the aisle.....

Two of my happy helpers, my husband David, and Kathy a friend of mine, who so graciously volunteered for a big job.....

Car emblems of every kind.....

Pennants, love the pop of color they add....

Kathy, myself and my sister Judy on the first day before opening, we didn't look this good by the end of the day with the crowd that came through on Thursday....

Buggy wheels, another of my favorites.....

Thermos of every color......

All the florals at the JB are real, nothing is fake, it really is striking when you see all the beautiful plants when you enter the JB....

The smalls area of the booth, anything from a typewriter key to a bingo card, to a glass button...

I love the color of these old German books, they were sold and went to a good home.....

Me and my sis......

Croquet mallets made into place card holders, photo holders, or business card holders....

The middle of the booth.....

The metal department, buckets to coolers to ice cream makers......

Stay tuned for the rest of the story where you will be able to meet some of the other vendors and my partners in the junking world. See ya then...

I'm Thrilled, Exhausted, and Inspired All At The Same Time!!

I made my return voyage from Shakopee, Minnesota after attending the 4Th Annual Junk Bonanza. All I can say is FABULOUS!!!!! This is one of the best shows I have ever had the privilege of being a part of. The shoppers, the food, and the junk was all well worth the 6 hour trip.

Give me a few HOURS to recoop and I'll post some great photos of the whole experience. See ya soon!!

Theatre Chairs Will Be Getting New Homes

Last Friday I had received a call from a junking buddy of mine that there were some theatre chairs that would be available for sale, she wanted to know if I wanted to go and look at them with her. My answer was of course, YES!

These seats came out of the Allen, Nebraska movie theatre about 50 years ago and placed in storage that long ago.

It took three truck loads to get them all out and hauled home.

They were in sections of 6 but we rearranged them to sets of 3 so they would be more useful in people's homes. I am bringing these to the Bonanza! Stop by and check them out, after we gave them a bath and oiled them up they are fabulous.

Stop by and pick up a piece American history while shopping the Bonanza, see ya there!

Want Milk? Need Milk? We Got Milk!

Earlier this year I had a post about Steffview Farms and the County Fair. Today I went out to find John and Paula, the owners of the dairy. It was early morning, around 8:00 a.m. but that was hours after the Steffen's and the crew were hard at work. Matter of fact, they were just finishing up when I arrived this morning. So I went in to check it out for all of you so you can see where your milk comes from!!

It was raining today so at the farm it was a mud marsh, you really do need your hip waders for this job, needless to say my tennis shoes where a little mushy after tromping around the farm.

These are the two big silos that house the corn to feed the cows, they use to hold silage, which is ground up hay, I really came out to check out these two big monsters. They happen to have a very cool pipe that runs up the side that looks really cool in your house. Ki, over at Junk Revolution, will be filling you in on that one.

Meet the milk machines.... they are all looking the same direction because its time to go out, they have all been milked and the next group will be coming in.

John is giving this cow a shot, that looks like a big needle!

This is the pit where all the milking machines are located that get hooked up to the cows. This is Cecelia, she is charge of changing the milkers. Pretty amazing, huh?

This is the BIG milk tank that holds all the milk that comes from the cows. You can even get a COLD glass of milk from this tank fresh from the cow. I don't think you can get much fresher than that!

This is Steffview Farms "Grade A" Inspection Report, John runs a tight ship....

This is the colostrum, this is the first milk from the cow after giving birth to her calf. It is saved and given to the bottle calves that get fed two times a day, morning and night. When a dairy cow has a calf it is taken away and fed by bottle. This way the cow doesn't have to nurse the calf, but will still produce milk.

Here's Paula, driving her chariot, the skid loader. She was just coming back from feeding the bottle calves. There are so many she has to use the bucket on the skid loader to haul the bottles and buckets over to feed them. Driving one of these is one of Paula's many talents!

Cheers! Nothing like a cold glass of milk straight from the cow at 8:00 in the morning...

There it is... MILK... in it's purest form.

If anyone wants to stop by the dairy John and Paula would be happy to show you around. Just bring your own cup!
