The Rest of The Story... Wendall's Junkyard

Yesterday I went to Iowa to look at some things I guy had advertised on Craig's list, it turned out not to be so great but, I was in the neighborhood of one of my favorite places to junk, so I decided to take a chance and see if Wendall was home.

He has the most beautiful willow tree at the corner of his driveway as you enter his place.

Meet Wendall, he has been in the salvage business for over 30 years now. When I arrived he was in the process of changing a tire on his tractor, as you can see it is not a very clean job but he let me take his picture anyway.....

While he changed his tire I wondered around the junkyard looking for treasure, the first thing I found was this great turq colored Ford van, now I bet that thing was a hoot in its hay day!~

An old blacksmith's grinding stone, gotta love those things, just think of the labor that went into operating one of these...

Tires, tires, tires..... anyone got a good re purpose for these, there is any size you can imagine....

Check out these great springs, got have all of those......

Wire fence, always comes in handy.....

Oh la la, look at these cool old fans covers, won't they make great baskets, light fixtures or maybe just wall art.....

These look a little dangerous, spiky, poky, and heavy....

License plates.... can always use those......

Now put on your thinking caps cause Wendall has the corner on the market when it comes to hubcaps, Hummmmm, got to think of something to make out of these.....

Love the color on this old Econline van truck, wouldn't that be fun to tool around in while junking?

Love this old door......

this is one of Wendall's prized pocessions, it's a 1950's stub nose truck, I have never even seen one of these, when you see it in person it's pretty amazing!

Wendall's barn blew down in a storm so he salvaged the wood from it, I can really use some of this, hurrah!!!

Wheels everywhere.......

A pile of some of my stash.....

Steel Wheels, boy are they heavy.....

Disk Spacers, these have a little red paint on them, got throw them in my pile!

Some of his collection, he collects tractors and Gleaners, I think they are big old combines, kind of like the dinosaurs......

More tractors......

A great old windmill tower, wouldn't that be cute with things displayed off of it?

Are we glad the tread on our tires doesn't look like this now? Kind of like the texture though....
Cool old station wagon, load up the fam and off you go for a picnic.......

And last but not least, my favorite purchase of the day, this absolutely, positively, worn-out old door off of this pickup, now isn't that just the cutest thing you ever seen? I'm bringing it to the Bonanza, so stop by and see it in person, it's so much better live!

That wraps up my junkyard shopping, that should hold me over for a few days anyway.
