Junk Jaunt 2010 ~!~!~!~!

I am finally getting around to posting about our 2010 Junk Jaunt trip, we had alot of fun, met many new people, and filled the trailer up pretty easily.

It was looking pretty gloom and doom at the beginning of our journey....

and muddy too....

then the fun began as we saw our first sign .... SALE HERE!!!!......

At one of the stops we always make every year they had the feed sacks hanging on the clothes line which made it easy to see them......

Everyone has their signs out directing you in which way you should go......

Ppeople are constantly putting more stuff out through out the weekend....

Some of my favorite finds were these great old Kodak cameras.......

As you can see the skies were are blue as could be later in the day.....

A great old green shelf that had to come home with me....

Found a couple cases of old Rodeo pop bottles, look like they may have been stored somewhere for quite some time....

Loved these old Burlington and Am Trak hats, I think we look pretty good huh?

Cactus Jack's was where we had lunch and boy was that a hit! He made this out of an old pull type camper trailer. Very creative and great food.....

Alba, Nebraska, a great little town with great vendors.....

We met these folks who had traveled all the way from Canada for their aniversary just to come to the the Junk Jaunt. They were having a great time filling up their mobile home with treasures they were finding......

A fabulous old canoe, husband said --- no......

See ya all next year, it is definitely worth the trip, the food, the junk, and the people you meet along the way made Junk Jaunt 2010 a complete success.

Signs, Signs Everywhere a Sign....

In my recent travels I have been taking a few photos of signs I run across, thought I would share some of them with you....

This sign is at the entrance of one of my favorite junking locations out in the country...

WE can't have this sign near the spaces where I store my junk, no limits there....

Dog and Subs, Rockford, Illinois, we recently visited it, my husband use to go there as a kid and buy a gallon of root beer and carry it home.....

Love the color, and the mighty small town....

I"m out on a buying trip at the moment but am taking lots of photos so I can share my adventures with you, stay posted for all the great things I found and seen.

What Can We Do With These?

I saw these on the Junk Jaunt in September, I absolutely love the patina, the color and the spectacular designs that are on these old cast iron radiators. These came out of the Holy Trinity rectory in Hartington, Nebraska. They are just beauties......

I'm challenging all of you to come up with great ways to use them. Now put on your thinking caps and let me know what you come up with. I'll be waiting.....

Happiness and Heartbreak All In One Day

Here is my happiness for today.... these great old photo studio cases I snagged from an auction today...

And a few other things to add to my happiness.... Notice the record player, been looking for one so we can play old records at the shop and bingo, I scored one today!

This is part of my heartbreak cause I didn't get this one but it did go to a good home, the lady who use to work for the studio for 15 years, isn't it amazing.....

These are the kind of machines that cause me heartache....

Especially when they are parked next to an cool old building like this.....

Check out the wonderful architecture on the top of this old beauty....

I am guessing it is going to be the next casualty of a demolition....

They have it all fenced off and the equipment setting there waiting for morning to come, I am going to make a few phone calls in the am to see if I can talk someone into salvaging some of that great old tin architecture from being destroyed, wish me luck!

An Auction Any Junker Would Love..... Especially Me!

The Sunday before the Junk Bonanza was the annual Miller, Creamer, Heimes and Janssen vintage consignment auction at the fairgrounds in Hartington, Nebraska. Wowzer! what a BONANZA of great stuff. We went to look the day before and knew we had to be there even though I should have been packing the trailers and getting ready to head north.... Feast your eyes upon the junk!!

A great old ringer washer head....

Metal Mason's Root Beer sign.....

My sister Judy was helping me look around, she was amazed by all the great junk.....

Sinclair gas pump glass.....

Meet Alton, he is the Heimes in the auction company and he loves Snickers candy bars, got keep your energy up when dealing with this much junk.....

Here is the Miller and Janssen part of the auction company, they are just trying to keep up with Alton with some burgers and fries....

These were windows that were salvaged from the convent in Hartington some almost 20 years ago and put in storage...... I snagged one of these!

I purchased these old printing stones used to print invoices, checks and statements from around 1910.... don't know the history but these puppies are heavy......

Some cool old theatre seats with stars on the seats.......

Old enamel letters that once adorned an old gas station......

Vintage license plates from Germany.....

Galvanized roof embellishments......

There were several rows with pallets with things stacked on them, a junkers bonanza.....

I loved this old box and the history that it held, this is really a diamond in the ruff, this chest was first build 1839, the lid is full dimension lumber which means it is one piece cut from a single tree, not pieced together, this is simply amazing to me that this has survived this long......

One of the greatest old galvanized ribbed barrels I have ever found....

And last but not least, a little something to haul the goods home in.....

We filled the trailer up so we were glad we stayed all day at the auction, totally worth staying up until midnight loading the trailer so we could head out to the north country. If I was rating auctions I would have to give this one a 10!

You can all wipe the tears from your cheeks now while I roll around in my junk! Keep your eyes peeled, you may see it show up in a place where junk is known to appear.....
