I saw these on the Junk Jaunt in September, I absolutely love the patina, the color and the spectacular designs that are on these old cast iron radiators. These came out of the Holy Trinity rectory in Hartington, Nebraska. They are just beauties......
I'm challenging all of you to come up with great ways to use them. Now put on your thinking caps and let me know what you come up with. I'll be waiting.....

I saw some at a garage sale a couple of years ago and was smitten with them. They were way too heavy for me to take at the time but it was so hard for me to leave them. Not really sure what I would have done with them also...I'll be watching for the ideas and will think again...so these are yours now? I have some lovely photos of some from when we stayed at a bed and breakfast so you can photograph them!
ReplyDeleteIf it were mine I might cut it down the middle so I could have to ends for a beautiful buffet (since I'm a metal artist cutting steel is no problem). You could lay it down (build a platform under it if it's not tall enough and place a piece of glass on it for a coffee table it would be gorgeous to look at thru the glass.
ReplyDeleteI love SooZeQue's suggestion, but since I'm not a metal artist I would place glass the size of an entry table or sofa table and use it that way. Love the color and beauty and just couldn't bring myself to cut into something like that!
ReplyDeleteWe use them to heat our home...they are a buggar to clean but do have so much character. I have seen them used as garden art, they look pretty with low flowers in front and tall ones behind. Some people use the lower ones as window seats(most of them are placed in front of windows)but if they are actually used for heating that may now let the radiant part of heating happen to well. I have put a board on top of one for my plants but when it comes time to use more than the pellet stove to heat the house the plants find a new home for the heat is too much. They are heavy as all get out so when you decide to use them you have to be committed.
ReplyDeleteFind a broken marble dresser top. Plop it on top. Looks really really snazzy.
