Bachman's Spring Ideas House...... Wowzer!!

Last Wednesday two friends of mine and myself took off for Minneapolis to get a look at Bachman's Spring Ideas House at the Lyndale Avenue location.

Meet Paula and Cheri, both of whom love junking, but probably not as die hard a junker as myself, but they hung in there for two days of junking, shopping, and a few stops up and back.

The first thing you see when you enter the porch was this great bench made out of three old chairs, they even stenciled the word "SIT" on the back of each of the chairs....

The centerpiece of the dining room table was a mix of old milk glass vases, industrial light covers, and a mix of fresh flowers with a few taper candles in some of the vases.....

The master bedroom was a very natural look with many items being natural wood tones....

The dresser was painted a metallic dark bronze finish, it was spectacular!

Cast iron stove pipes grates made into mirrors.....

Wanda the mannequin and an old tobacco drying basket on the wall....

The master bed with old shutters for the headboard and milk can side tables with glass on top...

The sweetest bench made out of an old Jenny Linn bed in the girls bedroom....

A toy box made out of an old galvanized window well, who would a thought....

A garden gate made into a place to display your pictures and notes....

And then the headboard, made out of Vera Bradley bulletin boards, one little girl was in the room when I was in there and all she could say was, " Can I take it home with me?"

This old screen door gets a new life as a bulletin board, there are even grooves where the spring that would pull the door shut use to rub on it.

These were ladders made into shelves for the craft room, they once held up people now they hold up craft room supplies.

This is one of my favorites, this is an old oil cloth rack now used as a wrapping paper and ribbon station along with a porch pole with the old funnels for containing all those other items.

The boys baseball room was simply amazing, I felt like I need to break out singing "Take me out to the ball game." the headboard was made of old wooden bats.....

The wire mesh grate made you feel as if you were standing in the dugout.....

The beverage crate night stand was a great touch...

Locker baskets for containing gloves and balls...

A grouping of 9 shadow boxes was one of the most striking displays in the house....

They each had a African violet in each box which was planted in a vintage tea cup, but that wasn't all, check out the table beneath the boxes made out of old bed springs, now that is innovation.....

An old postal sorting table gone to wine storage and serving area in the living room....

The focal point of the living room....

This was the most beautiful birdbath I have ever seen in my life, it stands alone, but did not need anything else sharing the spotlight...

The Ideas House was more than anyone could have expected, it is well worth the trip so if you can, go see it in person, it's even better in person than in these photos, and besides there many more ideas that even I didn't get on my blog.
Here are a list of other blogs you can go to and see more photos of the Ideas House:

It will be open April 14 - 18 and May 12, after that the house gets a whole new look and the Summer Ideas Hosue opens June 3rd - June 13. You can buy your tickets in the Bachman's store at Lyndale. I have no doubt you will throughly enjoy it! Have fun!

  9. The next time I read a blog, I hope that it doesnt disappoint me as much as this one. I mean, I know it was my choice to read, but I actually thought youd have something interesting to say. All I hear is a bunch of whining about something that you could fix if you werent too busy looking for attention.
