It Makes A Great Photo.....

We went to Lincoln for the Nebraska game last night but when we woke this morning we had a coating of the white stuff covering the ground as well as falling from the sky.

As we travel towards home I always make my husband drive through small towns to check out the main street just in case there is a place I need to investigate for junk. This sign is what I found so had to snap a photo of it, the white stuff made it perfect.

The roads were the opposite, not so perfect. We made it home safely, got a fire in the fireplace, and are hunkered down for a snowy few days. If you are in the path of the snow, break out the hot chocolate and your favorite blanket.

It's Here...

Old man winter has arrived at our house...

Which happens to be 4 weeks later than last year, so I feel lucky already!

We have a thin blanket of snow covering everything, the air is crisp and cold, and your cheeks turn red after spending a few moments in the outdoor air.....

I think I will get my hot chocolate, a warm fuzzy blanket, and a good movie..... oh, I forgot, that will have to be later, santa's elves need some help getting ready for the holiday. Hope all of you have elves to help you too!

I'm Still Out Here... Just A Little Under The Weather..Literally!!

Just letting you know I am still out here, just a little under the weather, meaning under snow, ice, rain, and all the things that are related to it. We have had a challenging winter season so far, with power outages, no Internet service, no phone service and even our cell phones didn't work sometimes, 5 -6 days at a time being snowed in, digging out our driveway for 3 days just to get to the road. WOW!! I'm ready for spring!

I assure you I will be getting back on track, just playing catch up right now, but have some great things planned that will be coming down the pipes soon, so keep checking back.

Is It Frosty The Snowman? or Is It Jack Frost?

As most of you know I live in Nebraska where we just happened to receive from the heavens above not inches but feet(s) of snow. So what better thing to do than get creative with the tons and tons of white stuff.....

Frosty or Jack, whatever you want to call him, was built during the snow storm of 2009 by one of my son's classmates and his sibling during one of the days when we were ALL snowed in. This is the biggest snowman I have ever seen, he is all of 10 feet tall!!

Here's Jack, the other Jack, my son playing in the brush pile that is full of snow and tunnels....

Jack Frost had everything looking frosty and icy....

Miles is standing by the edge of Highway 57, which is just 2 1/2 miles from our house, check out the size of this snow drift....

Jack went to the top, or more like semi-crawled to the top.....

Miles decided to join him......

Here they are, both at the top. The sheer size of the drifts are almost unbelievable??

This the highway looking back at the tunnel we just drove through.....

This went on for over a mile, the snow is taller than my Expedition for over a mile long on a highway, we even drove on the shoulder part of the way because the entire highway is completely covered and 8 foot deep for 25 feet to the left or the right!!!

Mother nature did make some beautiful designs in the trees....

Our neighbor's shed roof collapsed from the weight of the snow onto his machinery that was being store in the shed.

This is the make-shift road our neighbors plowed threw their front yard, threw the fence and out into the field so they could get over to the farm place to feed the cattle....

This is where the road use to be, over there underneath all that snow and on the other side of the fence, which all you can see now is the top of the posts.....

This is the most snow I can ever remember seeing in my lifetime, it's almost unbelievable, even as you stand right in front of it, looking at it. All I can say is WOW, and we have global warming? I'm thinking Ice Age.....
