Flea Market Style Is At Master's Hand Candle Co. and Serendipity Candy Factory

I went out yesterday to start distributing the new Flea Market Style magazine to some of the shop owners awaiting the arrival.....

One of my stops was at Master's Hand Candle Co. and Serendipity Candy Factory. There is a real success story behind this....

Meet Nicole and Susie, they are a mother/daughter team that has built Master's Hand Candle Co. from the kitchen up, literally speaking, Susie was a stay at home mom who started making candles out of her kitchen, then the basement, until finally they grew out of their space and purchased the building they now reside in for the past 2 1/2 years.

They use to make 70 candles a day out of their home, now they make around 30,000 candles a year!! Most of the business they do is through schools and churches that sell the candles as a fund raiser, so if you are looking for a fund raiser, here it is folks.....

Susie and Nicole were quite happy to be getting some of the Flea Market Style magazines for their rapidly growing business......

And their new addition of Serendipity Candy Factory... look at the beautiful candies and we even got some samples..... delicious!!!

The bridge ladies were in the shop, now this is a serious group of bridge players, nothing distracts them from their game!!

The Time Has Arrived!!!

Yesterday the UPS truck pulled up in front of the shop, I thought to myself I wonder what he could be bringing, I'm not expecting anything. So in he came with two packages in hand, and as he handed them to me I felt how heavy they were and a feeling of instant excitement came over me!~ It must be the magazine! I had one of those boxes open before he even for out of the door~

There is was the thing we have all been waiting for months t0 see, and it was sitting right in front of me~

I flipped through some of the pages just for a glance, I didn't want to see too much, I wanted to sit down and savor every page of the long awaited magazine.

Oh, something turq~

Something else I got yesterday, had to share these with you too, I bought this whole box of door knobs with these great silver door plates attached, all 39 of them. You should have seen them before, they had been in a fire and were filthy and black, even my husband said he wasn't sure of my purchase. I told him to trust me~

Look how pretty they are, they have these great doorplates and silver embossed medallions in the middle of each enamel door knob, they are fabulous. In all my junking I have never seen any doorknobs like these. These will be harder to part with than I thought~

Sooooooo, back to the magazine, I sat down last night with my magazine and went through it page by page, you will love the magazine!!! Ki has out done herself again, as we can always expect~ Kudos to you Ki and all the Flea Market Style team, job well done! Excitement Is In The Air......Can You Feel It?

Here it is the big reveal of the cover of the new Flea Market Style magazine that is about to hit the stands! I'm gettting goose bumps from the anticipation of what lies behind this beautiful cover!

I have ordered spare copies of this issue for those of you who would like one of the new magazines. So, as we wait with visions of junk dancing in our heads, just sit back and imagine what lies ahead for every Flea Market Style fan!

Iowa.......

Friday we took off in hopes of an adventure, big junk finds, and good weather to do it in. We came up with all three....

I have a special place in my heart for old movie theatres, they are becoming an extinct species...

Showtime 7:30, well we won't be catching that show, the junk is calling.....

Bingo!! I found a barrel of stuff, and lots of them......

Some furniture, matter a fact a whole warehouse full.....

Just a few wooden shoe lasts...... approximately 200 of them!!!!!

Several old mantels, this jewel was just $975, quarter sawn oak, massive, and beautiful......

Bingo again, thread spools from an old factory, the man says there is 12,000 of them, you think he is right? Threw some of those in the trailer.......

The husband checking out the old side shed....... and what does he find?

A pile of widow's peak, only 80 some of these......

Overall, the day was a success, we came home with piles of junk and a few extras, the weather held out, and we did have quite an adventure, 250 miles of junking joy, even found a few new places that I have to discover yet. But that will be later, stay posted!!

Prized Possessions

I picked up these photos at a flea market yesterday, these are some of my favorites photos, I adore the ones of children at play, bicycles, animals, horses, pets and flags.

These were their prized possessions, a reminder of simpler times...... something we should all reflect upon.

It Makes A Great Photo.....

We went to Lincoln for the Nebraska game last night but when we woke this morning we had a coating of the white stuff covering the ground as well as falling from the sky.

As we travel towards home I always make my husband drive through small towns to check out the main street just in case there is a place I need to investigate for junk. This sign is what I found so had to snap a photo of it, the white stuff made it perfect.

The roads were the opposite, not so perfect. We made it home safely, got a fire in the fireplace, and are hunkered down for a snowy few days. If you are in the path of the snow, break out the hot chocolate and your favorite blanket.

Holiday Project Number 2 ---- Spindle Tree -- Oh So Cute!!!

I picked up these adorable wheels with the greatest turq patina, then later found these spindles in yet another place. I have been saving them for this project for quite sometime now.

I got the inspiration for this project from Ki's blog over at Junk Camp about a year ago right before the holidays. She had posted a tree that a friend of hers had made, I loved it and have been thinking about it ever since........

This is what I started with, I "married" these wheels to the spindles to create one piece....

Made some curly, twisty wire branches with a small loop on the end, drilled some tiny holes for the wire to fit in.......

Placed some of those favorite old mercury ornaments to the ends of the branches.....

And soon my vision was coming to life.....

Little by little I was getting more and more excited......

Don't forget the star for the top, the last finishing touch....

And tahdah!!! Here it is.... the spindle tree I have been dreaming about for a year!
