DRESSING UP THE COLD CREAM JARS FOR EASTER

A few weeks ago on Junk Revolution message boards I posted a picture of these old cold cream jars. I bought a whole box of them for cheap and asked everyone to give some suggestions for a new purpose for them.

This was my inspiration for the project. This is a vase made of old greeting cards, pipe cleaners, and some old trim.

I used some old diner dishes that I had at the shop, and some cute glasses with flowers on them for spring, which by the way will be on my garage sale on Sunday on my blog along with some other cool stuff for spring.

Wrapped a wire around the top of the cold cream jar and twirled the end to make a place for a name card to be placed in and put a few flowers in the jar and there you have it.


Cute little jars that you can use for place card holders on your Easter table!


Here is my pretty vase! It is made of paper so you have to put a glass inside of the vase so it doesn't ruin your paper vase. Check out the cool flowers, I got them at The Plantation in Laurel, Nebraska. They are adding on a greenhouse and more display area, so stop and check it out this spring, its gonna be awesome!!

I'VE BEEN GIVEN AN AWARD ---- HOW COOL IS THAT?

Guess what? I've been awarded the fab blog award! Since I am really green in the blog department I'm feeling really special to have been choosen. Thank you so much to LuvMyGarden!!!

So now I must reveal my five addictions. Let's see ........



1. Rain --- I love the rain, the sound of the rain is soothing to me, the smell is cleansing and refreshing, it makes things grow, and settles the dust.



2. Walking --- I recently started walking 4 miles a day and now I don't know why I didn't start a long time ago. It's good for you, it relieves stress, and it makes you feel good. I lost 20 pounds since I started!!





3. Photography --- I bought a nice new camera that I can do almost anything with and I am loving it. I take it with me where ever I go so I have it handy when I need it. Pop bottle caps for making my belts with.

This is one of the most beautiful trees I have ever seen. Good thing I had my camera!!!

4. Flowers and Junk --- mixed together. I love this time of year because it's that time when you can start your gardening and creating your new creations in the garden. Mixing the junk with the flowers is what makes it so much more fun and every year can be different.

5. Family and Friends --- without the support of my family and friends I wouldn't be able to do what I do. They all tolerate my love for junking, they let me stop at any new junk places I discover when we travel, and they encourage me to be passionate about what I love.

"The Shed" At Rural Dixon, Nebraska

Past the pond, that's taking a long winter's nap, preparing to awake when old man winter decides to head south,

Over the railroad tracks, don't forget to stop and check the tracks for trains,

No trains in the distance, proceed with caution.

And finally , the lane. Karen Anderson is the proprietor of "The Shed". She has been in business here for 6 years but had previously been in the antique business for more than 10 years before that. Her husband has been a farmer for 40 years.

Here is the the sign that is awaiting spring visitors.

Meet Pertty, (pretty - but turn the r and e around) she is always the first one to greet you when you arrive. She is 84 years old in dog years!!!!!



This is first shed she started the business in before adding the loft of the barn. Now both buildings have good old junk in them.

Inside the barn is filled with anything from dishes, furniture, mirrors, doors, baskets, lamps, you name it she has it. All inside the loft of the old barn.

This is Hooter the orange cat. He is a barn cat so was not willing to get to close, close enough for a photo but that was as far as he was going.

More good junk.

Maddy had to go over to the tree swing and take a spin before we left. There are two, so check it out next time you visit, let your child-like inter self take flight.

The end of the day, the sun is about to go down but the wind is still blowing making the windmill spin even as darkness approaches.

Part Two - Road Trip to Yankton

This was my third stop, Collectiques. Just one block down from the last spot. On a nice you could walk in between and stop back and pick up your purchases.

I'm tyring to think spring, this floral chandiler seems springy with the yellow flowers.

Here is a great gumball machine and it even works, ready for you to fill with your favorite kind of gumballs.

Polka Dots ..... always love polka dots.

Frostie? Spring? Sure, cold frostie root beer on a hot day.

Gotta love this vintage Frosty Rootbeer chalkboard.

Last stop Roadshow Antiques - 10,000 sq ft of stuff. Al and Bertha are the owners, who are always ready to deal.

I have an attraction to those funky whip stitched lamp shades and this one even has the cool turq color.

All kinds of tins of every shape and size. The Fobots lady would go crazy here!

A set of seven stools. All were mismatched but that was what made them more fun.

That's the end of my junk fix story until another one comes along. Stay tuned.

Road Trip To Yankton

On Friday I decided to take off for a day of junking. It had been a long week and I needed a junk fix. I only had a few hours so decided to try Yankton, South Dakota. Yankton as several shops within 3 -4 blocks of each other. That way I was able to get as much junking done as quickly as possible.




Here is my first stop. Yankton Antique Mall. There is two floors full of treasures.




Oohhh! The kitchen table is pristine and has two matching stools. The price was good too.

Handles for all those projects that need that extra little something.





Always love those old metal pedal cars. This one was in good shape.





I think I was stuck in the red mode. Have you noticed all the red stuff I keep looking at?


This was a really nice old RC cola tempature sign. It was marked $45. The vendor happened to be in restocking his booth, so being the negotiating junker that I am, I asked him what his best price would be. I reminded him there were some more things I would be intersted in, so think quanity. Good prices = more purchases = more room for new stuff. He scratched his head and said how about $22 if you buy at least two more things from my booth. I gladly agreed since I had my eye on the red wooden wheel, and that box of handles.

Thought this would be helpful, especially when you have to tie things to the top of your car because there isn't any room left inside the car.

Next stop, Lily Crest Cottage. She also has two floors of stuff. The main floor is home decor, some antiques, candles, and her framing business. But second floor is all antiques, jammmed full of goodies.

How do you like that really cool chippy mantle? Oh la la love chippy.



These old sovenior ash trays are fun!



This is an radiator cover from the old Fantles department store that use to be in the downtown area. Wouldn't that be great in an entry way? or maybe Coming to a Junk Bonanza near you.

The back room at Lily Crest Cottage is what I call the man room or the metal room. It's where you find those one of a kind items and usually metal stuff.

This was a set of six matching brown milk bottles with the original wood crate they came in.



I feel in love with these. They are metal iron rests. There has to be another purpose for these. $2.00 each - gotta get them and figure it out later.




More old things from the Fantles department store. These were big posters that measured 60" x 48" from the 1950's. How cool!
